horse boots

I bought a pair of sport boots for my horse for trail riding. I downloaded the size chart, and ordered the size indicated by the chart. One came off, once in mud and once while cantering. I was disappointed, but persevered. The next day I discovered that they had rubbed her heels enough to make them bleed. We had only ridden for about 1&1/2 hours. Does anyone have any suggestions? I wondered about putting vet wrap around her heels under the boots.

What kind of boots are these? If they are easyboots and you are within the 30day rule you might be able to exchange them.
It sounds like they are rubbing and I would stop using them since they are obviously to big.
I personally use the easyboot gloves and have accidentally gone mudbogging in them, the boots stayed on.
I had them fit to my mare by a certified fitter, so call easyboot and see if/how they can help you out.

cheers smile

They are cavello sport boots.  I spoke to a person who said the simple boots seem not to rub as much.  My mare has only used them 3 times, but the 30 days are up and the place I bought them charges 25% restocking fee even if it's within the 30 days.  They are also still new and maybe stiff, so I'm not going to give up quite yet, but will wrap her heels next time.  Otherwise I'll write the company.  I have the cavello simple boots for my gelding and he hasn't had any problem with them.  I've never heard of an easy boot glove, but it sounds interesting.  Thanks for your advise.

You could try a sole insert in the boot, its a thin round rubber disk, which might snug it up enough to stop the rub. The fit might change some just after  a trim, or if a trim is almost due, so you still need a plan to accomodate small changes with almost any boot. Using them on short rides to toughen up before longer rides might help, like when you get new shoes, but not if the fit is really bad.
I avoided the boot that comes up past the hair line for this reason, but the soft wrap of something like the epic helps keep the boot from coming off theoretically without rubbing.
