Two dressage stallions are facing destruction by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, any thoughts on this? hmm

Why can't the Canadian officials re-do the tests in Canada? Does it take too long to get the results?

This is a terrible mess, but I really blame the girl for not doing her homework. She needed to double-check that everything was being done correctly. Also, I wonder how many horses she brought in, because that's a pretty hefty price tag for transport!

I guess it depends on where you live, but here in BC $60,000 to transport 7 horses from Europe is a little on the low side...

It sounds to me like she didn't do her homework, and tried to slide by, as do many importers of both horses and semen (you wouldn't believe how many ladies get stopped at the border in BC trying to illegally import semen...).

She has a choice, and she should send the two stallions back to France and do the paperwork properly. The importation laws regarding issues in breeding stock are very clear, so this looks to me like requirements were avoided, at the very least.

Yes, I agree. For whatever reason they're being held, they should be sent back to France and redo the paperwork. (and who-ever's fault it is, the owner or agent, should have to pay for it - will probably end up in court I'd guess)

It is the girls fault for not doing the paperwork properly...If you are importing animals, you better make sure that you have everything in order and you have the proper paperwork filled out! Its terrible news, but perhaps it will be a good lesson to others...

These are not Candian dressage horses. These are French dressage horses. $60,000 to import 7 horse is a low ball amount. It will not cost her $60,000 to export and re-import 2 horses. If her family can afford that amount then they can pay for the fees. If these horses came in for showing purposes at the Royal on a temporary import, then what are they still doing here? At 18 these horses are getting old for competition purposes but you can still breed them. There are a lot of holes in her story....
