Favourite "Big League" Rider?
Permalink Closed

After hearing of Eric Lamaze's Victory in Paris , I've gotten curious about my fellow Barnmousers and their interests. That is to say, their interests in "big league" riders! So, Barnmousers, who are your favourite big time riders and why?

I'll start by saying my favourites are split equally between Steffen Peters, Eric Lamaze, and Ian Millar. All three of these men have impeccable horsemanship and are amazing riders. These men also have some of the most monumental mounts in recent history including Ian Millar's Big Ben and Eric Lamaze's Hickstead. There's never a time I see these gentlemen ride that I don't learn something new.

So, who do you admire in the "big leagues" of the horse world?

My coach and dear friend, Belinda Trussell.

She is not only a superb international rider, but she is constantly expressing, and spreading the message of gratitude for the generosity of our horses and the multitude of gifts they give us.

A genuine horse lover.

Ian Miller rocks to this day : )Partial to Michael Matz, too. Like his intellect around a horse. Smart man.

I am also a huge fan of Becky Holder these days, I am most impressed and reassured to see her thoughtfulness and priourities with her horse, regardless of where she is, what is going on around her. I believe she genuinely puts her horses first.
