Saddle maker frustration!
Permalink Closed

Hey all - I figured no better place than here to come for help.

I have been searching for years for information on the fella who made my saddle. It's a real solid piece of equipment, beautifully tooled, and has served me for many years and many rough rides. It's a gorgeous roping saddle made by Ellis Upchurch of Arizona. Does anyone have any idea who this man is/was, and/or any information on his saddle making? I found a thread somewhere on a forum through a Google search that really only confirmed that he was indeed a saddle maker in Arizona, but that's it. I'd really like to know more about this gorgeous piece of equipment I have. I don't know when it was made, though it seems to be holding up in just about the same condition I got it in, 10 years ago.

So, does anyone know who this very talented saddle maker is/was, or anything about any other equipment he made?

ETA: I will add pictures as soon as I can get batteries for my camera.

Just thought I would add that I contacted the saddlery folks. The book seemed to be a dead end when I was looking for it online. I suspect my library may have it (they have almost anything you can imagine), so I will check them out next time I'm there. Thanks again :)
