i am wondering how to condion my horse for the upcoming eventing season. we are starting eventing now and will start with pre-entry and entry. any ideas????
Ditto what everybody else has mentioned, lots of walking! When I used to work endurance horses for a friend, we always did 10 walking laps, 1 trot lap counting down. I still use this method on all horses for conditioning, doesn't matter what their discipline is.
10 brisk walking laps, 1 working trot 9 brisk walking laps, 1 working trot 8 brisk walking laps, 1 working trot And so on, hope this helps
PS. this was around a fairly large field, so you may want to increase the number to 15:1 ratio if you were in an arena.

Take your horse out and work in the snow...conditions the horse by making them use the hind end and works the riders legs due to the extra boyancy the horses movement has nevermind the core workout....I do the same things as I would do in the arena
