Horse Pyjamas (to protect against flies, mosquitoes and other biting bugs)
Permalink Closed

Hi all :) Do your horses suffer in the heat from fly and mosquitoe bites?

My coaches Andalusian stallion is so sensitive to bugs landing on his legs that he often bites and nips himself so much that he draws blood.

So my coach ordered these Flocks from a company here in Australia.

They are just tooo cute! They look like pyjamas, especially with the stripes.

Whatever it takes....The bugs are horrid in spring/summer around here, many horses drawing blood from themsleves over it. Not unusual to see fly sheets and shorter "leggings", 'specially on the body clipped competition string or the Cushingoid and sensitive ones. Might be comical to look at but a miserable horse that can't find relief from the bugs is NOT.

Thanks for the link, Sedona : )

Great idea... I do worry about the heat though. All those extra layers in the summer could lead to an equally uncomfortable horse.
