I'm dangerbunnygirl or DBG, loving slave to two Arabian horses, two dogs, a cat and way more bunnies then I want to count. I have been riding since I was six, primarily English and Dressage but have dabbled in other things. Recently tried Eventing with Joy, it was a blast! we both had a wonderful time and will definitely be back for more.
Joy has her own blog here: http://dangerbunny.blogspot.com/
Oh I don't think I am very good at intros, what else. I am interested in holistic healthcare for equines and am always learning more about how to keep my horses happy. I love to read and read a huge amount.
This is Joy, she is a seven year old mare, 3/4 Arabian and 1/4 Saddlebred.
Confo type shot from last summer^
We love to go swimming in the summer^
Jumping is fun^
Dancer, 11 month old Arabian, she is Joy's little friend and her primary job is to eat and grow, which she does remarkably well.
Thanks for reading!

Welcome to the forum DBG! Your horses are simply stunning (but of course, I'm biased, being an arab person myself... haha). If you are into holistic healthcare, Patti from NaturallyUnbridled may be a fun person for you to talk to on here.
We are so glad to have you here! Generally we're a friendly bunch with a lot of fun stuff to talk about, so I hope you find yourself at home :)

I once had a 7/8 Arabian 1/8 Saddlebred mare. Joy reminds me so much of her. Only Joy's head is so much more Arab. And Joy has better withers than my mare had (long, long ago.) I bet your heart melts everytime you see that gorgeous face!
Welcome! I have never personally rid an Arabian but my friend has and she says she misses riding them and riding the quarter horses in my area just doesn't compare.

Jackie- Most people guess she is full arab, only thing saddlebred-y I see in her is the giraffe neck when she gets excited. Do you have any pictures of the mare you used to have? She is a sweetie and we have had our ups and downs but I am glad I stuck it out with her.
Emiry- I love sensitive horses, so much fun to ride!, they are definitely different and not for everyone but I really enjoy my hot horses.
My mare made me an advanced rider. She was a bolter/balker when I got her. I had to start her in a full bridle with a standing martingle, and it took me 6 months to get her to a snaffle and no martingle or noseband.
We really did not like each other, she had a screw loose in her head, I did not like her attitude, but she had been my parents horse and I was sort of stuck with her. If her hooves had not been shelly and weak, though, this was the horse I would have used if my life had depended on my horse. When she got to cooperating with me and having some fun being ridden I felt like I could conquer the world on her back! She taught me a lot.
Joy has taught me a lot as well, she is very sweet and affectionate but also has a stubborn streak a mile wide and is to clever for her own good sometimes, she has taught me more about diplomacy and patience then any other horse, I love her dearly.
Barbara- Well I have Angora rabbits and just had a litter of babies born so currently have 13 buns!
DBG: My mom and I used to breed/raise/show rabbits. We bred Dutch mainly but had some mini lops for a while. I remember one particular rabbit show, a lady was turning her Angora wool into yarn. Definitely something I'd be interested in pursuing again sometime later in life. We had a rabbitry of well over 40 buns, and let me tell you, it's not easy taking care of that many + preggo/nest box babies/etc! It was fun, though. :)

Wow Ash, thats way more bunnies then I would want, lots of work! I love logs, had some as a kid. My mom spins and just made me a beautiful hand spun and knitted hat from one of my bunnies hair, very cool. I am learning to spin.
Is it fairly inexpensive/easy to spin? I'd love to learn how. I enjoy knitting, and can see that as a potentially very useful tool for someone who doesn't fare well with sheep wool (it's much too itchy for me).

it is kinda fine and floofy, once you get the hang of it it not much different then sheep's wool (although does have a propensity to stick to everything) You might have luck practicing with sheep wool that is very soft like Shetland or merino. Angora blends well with other wools.
Welcome! (Do I have any business saying that seeing how I'm new as well?)
Anyway, Joy is gorgeous! I'm yet another arab lover (hard not to love them), I live about 3 blocks away from a location where a breeder keeps a lot of her broodmares and I got my first substantial experiences with them when I was about 12. She let me lease one of the mares for the price of cheap board with unlimited riding, and I would go over there all the time just to spend time with all of the wonderful horses. At the time I only had a hackamore and a bareback pad, so I would ride her bumpy trot around the fields :) very fun.
Right now there are 2 arabs at the barn I work at, and the one (Red Cloud) is one of my favorites. Arabians always seem to have personality times 100.
Hope to talk to you soon, I'm also interested in holistic/natural horse care.

Cute about the broodmares, do you have your own horse?
It is funny I own two Arabs since when I was a younger I said they were too hot, and too smart and I didn't want one of my own. The only arabs I was working with all in retraining and had major trust and behavioral issues. I found I really like working with sensitive horses and have a real knack for it.
I don't right now, sadly. I'm trying to get as much experience riding as many different kinds of horses as I can right now (especially green ones or problem horses), so I sold my last boy because I didn't think I would have enough time to devote to him as he deserved.
Thats really neat! It's always fun to try out new horses and get a pleasant surprise :)
I love your avatar by the way, my sister has an adult albino rex (?) that looked like that little guy when he was a baby.
