Has everybody been enjoying their horse/s lately? It has been beautiful weather in my area the past couple of days and looks like the weekend is going to be pretty decent as well

I've got my little boy up here now and he's out with other yearlings, so we're having a blast Babies are awesome, and he gallops over to see his Mom and get cookies. Schooling my big girl as usual, although last night she came up with just a bit of puffiness on the hind legs. Of course, we have a show next weekend.... I swear, she hears the S word and dreams up ways to hurt herself!
When it hasn't been pouring down....We've had two good days and then the skies open again...We're near the river and at the base of the mountains so we get rain and rain and rain - even when some other places here on the coast don't -- it's lush and beautiful...- but we're getting a bit water-logged.
The horses stand in their stalls and glare at me when I go out to feed them. I think they are truly saying 'This is ALL YOUR FAULT. Turn off the water.' Then I throw them out to clean their stalls and they stand at the gate of the paddock in the pouring rain. Do they go under the trees for shelter? No. Do they go into the big shelter we had built for them?. No. They stand at the paddock gate and stare at me. That's 4 pairs of equine eyes darting daggers into me. I'm sure they are saying ' This is STILL ALL YOUR FAULT. NOW Let us INNNNNNN.'
Oh well they are predicting a long hot summer....I hope they are right... They also say the wkend will be good - I want to play with my horses...!! Or win the lotto and move to a place with an indoor!!
Maggie is essentially a lazy horse who would rather just hang around and be adored. Her usual means of actually getting out of work consists of balking, bucking, shying, spooking, jumping about, and generally being a sh*t. It just SEEMS like she's always hurting herself before a show or a clinic. I suspect it has to do with the fact that during the show season is spring/summer, where the mares are all hormonal and being silly, and they get to go out in the 1 acre grass paddocks and run around being silly, etc etc. Bad timing that it is the same time that she's supposed to go out and show the world how spectacular she is.

Although we've had a much cooler spring than usual, I've been enjoying the good days. What I really enjoy is this spring Sharif is not balking, bucking, spooking, and has mellowed quite a bit (whereas he was pretty naughty last year, our first together). I've kind of got his number too, but if I was still dealing with all that stuff, I'd be less than thrilled. I'm also just really enjoying the little daily stuff with him, or teaching him a little trick. Since he's here on my own place, I love to just look out the window and admire how pretty he is, and watch him when he's running around or bucking in his paddock, or curled up so cute for a nap. I have no big ambitions of going to shows, and I'm pretty sure he's figured out he has it pretty good. He only has to hoof it for a while on a ride, and I wear out before he does, we just enjoy what the trail has to offer. Then he gets relatively short pasture time, and makes the most of it face down, till it's time to loaf in his paddock. I would hate to have him somewhere else and not be able to just pop out and brush him, or feed him a carrot, I would always be wondering how he was doing.
Yes, I've had some lovely rides! I was out today, though, and the bugs were already at my horse! I couldn't believe it. I guess because of all the rain, there are more than usual this time of year. I'll have to think of a very clever (natural) bug repellant!
