Hey everybody I have a project coming up for school and I'm looking to collect some "base" line numbers to use for the project. I'm looking for the following and in no way will your names/numbers etc. be used in many manner other than just to collect the average base line numbers for the class (no names involved!).

1. Income from Boarding (or if you're a boarder, what do you pay)?
2. Cost of hay in your area?
3. Cost of bedding in your area?
4. Cost of grain in your area?
5. Cost of labor (muckers, grooms, stable hands etc.) in your area?

Hi Nicky, Don't know if it will be of use,being from Australia.
$2000/month- Boarding
We make our own hay but it costs us around $1.50/bale
Bedding we get from the local timber mill for free
Grain is $180/ tonne (oats)
Labor is $15/hour

Hey, Nikki:

This is information from the southern interior of BC, so it might not be relevant for you, but here goes:

1.  Boarding runs from $150/month for pasture board, to $1300/month. I have a small boutique dressage barn, and full board here is $450/month, but I have to REALLY like you....

2.  Hay can be purchased here for as little as $5/bale, or as much as $18/bale.  I buy second cut grass hay, which is $8/bale, not delivered.  There's very little delivery available here, but there is lots of hay!

3.  Bedding's up to $450/load now.  A load will last between 3 - 6 months for 6 horses, depending on the quality of the barn help and the season.

4.  I don't feed grain.  However, the forage/fat based concentrate I feed is $17.99/40 kg bag, and I use between 6 and 9 bags/month, based on 4 - 6 performance horses.

5.  Labour starts at $8/hour, but I pay $15/hour, and for that I get quality help.  They always show up, always on time, always prepared to do the extra things, and they both pay attention to the horses and their jobs.
