How to accurately appraise your saddle for consignment sale?
Permalink Closed

Hello,

I have a 16.5" CWD close contact hunter saddle, in high quality French leather. I originally bought it for $3,600 about three years ago, and I am now interested in selling it. I am wondering how much I should charge for it? The saddle is in very good condition, lightly used and still holding up well in stitching and construction. The seat is slightly discolored from use and displays some minor scratches, but I think that after some cleaning and oiling it will look nice again. I was thinking of charging $2,600 for it. I know that this is a popular saddle and every time I run an online search they usually come up in the $3,000 range - even when in used condition - so I think this should be a good starting point. Am I right?

I think $2,600 is more than fair. You could start with $2,750 to give yourself room to negotiate.
