BLM finds some controversial practices in its Wild Horse "Gathers"
Permalink Closed

The US Bureau of Land Management examined the practices of one of their livestock contractors during a recent "gather."  Controversial procedures included chasing individual horses with a helicopter for too long and getting too close.

Read the recent BLM press release on the Barnmice News Forum.

So is the BLM just throwing a bone to wild horse advocates who actually got a temporary restraining order from a judge during the gather?  The BLM removed 1200 horses from Nevada, and a lot of ranchers there would like to see all the wild horses gone.

It seems like there is no middle ground in this dispute - according to the BLM there are just too many horses , while the wild horse advocates charge the BLM with catering to the ranching and mining interests who see the horses as a hindrance to their business activities.

How can this get resolved?
