Maybe get one of those apple shaped toys that you hang up? And lots of hay spaced over the day to help keep him busy!

ya, we only found out yesterday that he will only have to have stall rest for 3 days! we have gotten him a slow-feed hay net... it works wonders! basically what it is is a normal hay net but it has much smaller holes in it so the horse can't eat the hay as fast and "waste it"
we also got him an uncle jimmies stall ball... he doesn't really understand it but he will eventually :)

That is good news that he will only be on 3 days of stall rest! It sounds like you're on the right path with the slow feeder hay net, I'm sure once he figures out what the Uncle Jimmy's stall ball is all about he'll go right for it too!

now that i can start riding (only hacks) he has become "homebound" wanting to go r e a l l y slow away from the barn, but wanting to be the little racehorse he is, MUST speed walk towards the barn... not sure how to stop this without him getting annoyed, help?

Hi Eventing101, I think that might be a great question to post under the training forum here!
