A big "Hello" from me and the horses (in their neighing, ears pricked way). I am the barn manager at Apple Flats Orchard and Stable, which is located in the heart of Lake Country, B.C., Canada. We run a legally recognized, non-profit organization that is committed to providing care and retirement homes for competitive and non-competitive horses that would otherwise be deemed "unwanted." We also have young friends too! Right now we have two miniature horses that are approximately 3 years of age. We are passionated about horses here and do our best to make the world a better place one horse (and person!) at a time. We are currently brainstorming fundraising events for 2013. Details to come soon! For more information, please visit our website here. You can also find us at our Facebook page, "Old Friends Canada," as well as on Twitter @oldfriendsofca
A bit about me: Horses are my life, love, and passion! My cowboy will tell you that I am one of those rare people that see horses as equals. I own a Quarter horse cross mare (I call her a mutt!), who I rescued and who was my first horse. She is my best friend. I also own an one and a half year old registered paint boy. He has already taught me some amazing horse (and life) lessons. He is gorgeous and many people think he is a Thoroughbred at first glance because is SO big! My retriever cross border collie puppy loves the horses too, and she's always wanting to play with them. Emmy is at the stage where she is very curious and needs a watchful eye...she has yet to realize how big and strong the horses are. I'm so excited to be apart of the Barnmice community and look forward to meeting you all!
A Happy New Year to you as well. Thank you! I am delighted to share what we do at Old Friends and will definitely be rambling through the forums when I'm not out with the horses. :)
