Does anyone have information about Florestan offspring? My new horse's dam is a Florestan daughter. I understand his offspring are know for very good temperaments, but I don't know anything else.

Florestan has several sons standing in North America including Festrauch at Hilltop farms.  This is what Hilltop had to say about Florestan on the website http://www.breeding-stallions.com/stallion941.html:

...Florestan I is one of the leading producers of dressage currently in Germany. He has been listed #1 on the FN's breeding value rankings for several years in a row. Florestan I himself was the Champion of the 1988 Rhineland approvals and also won the stallion performance testing in Warendorf in 1989. Florestan has 50 approved sons, many States Premium mares, top auction selling offspring, and ultimately many very successful offspring in dressage. In 2005, three of the six top medals at the World Championships for Young Horses were awarded to Florestan I offspring.

This website
http://www.hwfarm.com/Stallions/urls/florestan_1.htm
has more information along with a small video of him.

Ingrid Klimke is riding a stallion who's dam-sire is Florestan!

Fun stuff to look up.  The German stallion books would have a lot more about him.

I have also heard that the Florestan offspring are known for their excellent temperaments. They are also supposed to be super dressage horses.

Just ran across this nice article about Florestan on Eurodressage.  I didn't realize he is 25 years old and has been retired from breeding for a couple of years now.  I think he's done plenty for the equestrian world and how nice that he gets a comfortable retirementsmile
