Driving competitions at the Royal. Which are the best ones to get tickets to?

Green Meadows Coaching or the Carriage Derby are the best.

Personally I find the Hackney Horse and the Hackney Pony Stake classes thrilling as well.

I agree with the coaching classes (green meadows) but there are only 3 coaches entered and one of them is an unknown in this area. There is no more racing derby (hasnt been for the past year and I'm not sure if they are going to ever hold it again). The hackneys are always fun to watch and I'm going to be showing in the welsh ladies to drive (the second friday evening, first class in, and there is at least 12 entries so far so it should be a nice class!). I also drive saturday in the afternoon class in the 12.2h and over class.

There are now 5 coaches entered for the Royal...I also have 15 in the welsh ladies to drive class. Should be very nice to watch and show in! I'm very excited for the Royal this year!

Yes, I will be driving the cob thats in my picture. There are a couple of black cobs in the class be he's the only one with 4 socks and I will be driving him to the phaeton that is also in the picture. Wish us luck as its his first time in that ring and he just turned 4! I'm not looking to win, I just want him to go in there and be a good boy! (he almost always is though!!). I just love this pony!! Look out for us though, his name is USA Railside Roger That! Hope you can make it!
He's going to be very tired that night as we have to practice in the big ring on thursday night (after the evening performance), get up early friday am for the welsh line classes, then I have a welsh riding class and then we have the driving class that evening. This pony has little energy as it is so it will be a lot of encouragment from me and talks of all the treats he's going to get when he's done!

I certainly wish you luck and will be on the lookout for you guys in the class! Shouldn't be hard to spot the pony with 4 white socks aww My first (and only adventure so far) in the arena at the Royal was on a Welsh, so they hold a dear place in my heart (even though I was bucked off before I even started the course and then had to chase the pony down lol!) biggrin

Good luck to you and Roger. I'm moving into the Spirit of the Horse after 8pm on Friday night but will be there Sat and Sun. Not sure how often or for how long I can escape the crowds to the peace of the Horse Palace.

BTW Congrats on your engagement - me want to see the ring!

Thanks! I'll try to come and see you guys at your stall. If not come and look us up. I love showing off my new ring! I just love it!!
Thanks for all the luck! I'm pretty sure Roger will be a good boy, but I think he'll run out of energy fast in that ring.  It had really deep footing and hes on the lazy side!!  If you listen close enough I'm sure you'll hear a lot of "come on buddy, you can do it!"
