Hi everyone! I just wanted to say how much I am loving this forum. I have gone from having horses around 24/7 to the occasional weekend ride in the past few months, and I'm feeling the Horsey Withdrawal. This is curbing it for me....so nice to be able to talk horse and not feel weird. So...thanks! Everyone! I look forward to our future discussions :)
I suffered from riding withdrawals when i bought lorenzo. He had only just turned 18 months so it was loooooong wait til i was back in the saddle again.
Then I got sick!! So he was turned out for 7-8 months (which is why he's still so green now) and ive only really been back in the saddle properly for the last few months. But Im loving it :)
I had Jay, my Appy/TB for ten years before losing him last fall. My mom's horse, Chance (in my photo) is of course available to me anytime (note the occasional weekend). After Jay I decided to go to college and get my education before buying another horse. I have worked at several barns and was a barn manager before coming to school (note the horses 24/7 comment). I still go home occasionally to ride and visit with the horses but it's a knock after seeing them everyday.
I am very sorry to hear that you got sick! Taking your time is definitely on your side though. Everything happens for a reason (as corny as that sounds) and now you and Lorenzo have a whole career in front of you!
Awww, I'm so sorry to hear that you lost Jay - you must have been devastated! But at least you still have access to horses, I understand its not the same as having a special bond with your own horse though.
Thanks Barnmice ;) Thank you. I still miss him everyday, but honestly, I dont' feel as though he is gone. It sounds hokey, and I miss his physical presence, but I still feel a connection. It's nice to 'play horse' once in awhile. I imagine I'll dive back in sooner or later.
