The Biography of Emily Walsh

So I'm going to assume the title caught your attention(well I hope anyway). So this is my(extremly short) biography.

I am 16, my birthday is coming up in december. I have officaly reached my 1 year riding anniversary, and celebrated by finally riding a walking horse bareback! (My friend wanted me to trot but I said not happening haha)

I ride once a week at a lesson barn. Riding has rekindered my love for animals so I want to be a vet again! I am hoping in the 5-10 years I have to wait between pre-vet and vet school, to get an equine massage course done. (and a good chunk of previous student loans payed back).

I can w/t and go over small jumps fine(well my position is still in the works). I am having trouble sitting the canter at this moment. I tense up and go forward, and find it hard to relax. I'm getting better each week though. (For those that seen my question on the last form, I am the nervous rider). If anyone has any suggestions it would be great!

Edit:
also,I come from a small horse community without a lot of lesson or boarding options, as anyone who has time and money won't/doesn't put there time into it, or hasn't discovered the obsession the horse.

Welcome Emiry,

You will see that once you find your seat, the nerves will calm. Speak to your instructor, maybe it is too soon for you to jump. You should also think about your breathing, it might help

I'm not jumping at the cantering. Just at the trot on little cross-rails, or raised trotting poles. Just small stuff.

Actully, for the little bit of cantering I did last week I did fine! I found my balance and held it a lot better than I did previous! Am hoping to be able to get a private lesson soon just so I can have one on one help, instead of an instructor trying to work with 3 of us.
