Yep, like the title says, I'm curious as to where everybody's from(or currently living if you still refer to somewhere else as home).  And what's your prefered discipline of riding?
I'm from Virginia and ride western, prefer cowhorses, but train alot of all around/trail mounts.

Southern Ontario - east of Toronto.  We have a family horse farm.  My sons both event and we breed warmblood/draft cross sport horses.  I also show dressage.  We have 10 horses.  My husband has a wonderful PMU mare that we rescued as well.

New England for me, Massachusetts specifically. I have 8 horses at home under my jurisdiction, own three, non-breed/discipline specific. Tho I am a retired, beat and broken eventer, I am open to most English seats.

Newfoundland Canada! There is only a small horse community here, but regardless, I ride general english right now, but because me and the girls in my lesson want to do jumping, most of our lessons are geared toward this.

Newmarket, Ontario. I live on a breeding farm with about 50 ponies (numbers go up or down depending on the time of year). I used to do the hunters on the "A" circuit, I now ride dressage and pleasure driving and I do combined driving with my fiance. Tons of fun! I have 4 ponies with my fiance and am looking for the 5th so we are super busy!

Originally from Michigan, but have lived in Maryland, Nevada, Florida and currently call NewMexico my home. 2 horses - big paint mare that my daughter rides western & an arab mare that rides nothing right now since she is in foal & due in Feb. I plan on training her for endurance. :D

I come from a suburb of Vancouver, BC, Canada, although my horse is on Vancouver Island. Most people I know here ride english, and so do I out of convenience. I haven't tried western except on trail rides. Maybe once my horse is fully trained and closer to me I will be able to try it out.

Currently residing near Salem, Oregon in the US, though I call Portland, Oregon my home. I prefer reining, cow work and dressage but do a little bit of everything here and there. Cool to see a couple of other Pacific Northwesterners on here!

hello, I am from Los Angeles California... I've had my two horses for five years.... Toby is 29 and Oliver is 5..... I mostly do ground work right now, and liberty work..... and soon I will be riding my mustang Oliver... we are still in training... I'm 50 and these are my first horses ever... Love Barnmice though for over 5 years now... ")

From stoughton sask, was from, carievale sask, born and raised in sask lol, I ride what ever you will throw at me, lol, i perfer western and am into learning basic dressage as it looks interesting reining would be my favorite then cutting and always teeam penning i can not wait till i find the horse i am looking for, as i am really tired of having to school, other peoples horses so i can go for a decent ride.

I am living in Ontario, east of Toronto, I lease the Clydesdale in my photo, have been riding and training him for 6 years now. I ride english hunter, also go trail riding. I have now started taking dressage lessons as well.
Justice I too am in my 50's (54 to be exact) and enjoying my lessons and working with Clyde and I also get to help out with training some of the young ponies at the stable where I lease and ride. :)

Downstate Michigan, my family lives in the UP but I was born in Arizona and we lived in New Zealand for a couple years when I was a kid.
I ride primarily English, enjoy Dressage and recently caught the Eventing bug!

Colorado, and I ride western specifically trail mostly but I've dabbed in barrels, reining, western pleasure, and I have ridden english as well.

currently living north-west of auckland in kaukapakapa, new zealand. have lived here for about 13 yrs (looking to sell soon), and in nz for over 20 yrs. originally from belleville, ontario, canada. also lived in calgary and halifax, so have ridden on beaches at the atlantic, and pacific now! started riding western, did pleasure, youth quarter horse and western riding classes. moved on to show hunter and eventing in alberta. now ride my young nz hanoverian (bred by me!) in dressage and showing. smile

we were living outside dartmouth nova scotia. i was home with 2 young kids, my canadian hunter and a lovely welsh pony i drove. my husband 's territory was being closed and we had to move to either montreal, toronto or....   he went to a sales meeting in boston and met his furture boss, and by the end of the meeting had the job! we had been here on vacation a couple of years previous using our frequent flyer miles, so had a small idea of what the place was like. lolbiggrin   so here we are!  keeping horses is quite different. and quality horses are more affortable. and by the sounds of it, shows are also more affortable. no snow where we are, but rain like i've never seen it- all winter. hence the nz rug!!

Interesting! :) I'd love to visit Aus and NZ. I have a few born and bred Aussie friends and they love it there. I'm currently reading a book about famous eventers from Australia, and it sounds like the show circuit is a lot different down there than up here. A lot of kids seem to be encouraged to ride at a young age and continue on with their passion if that's what they wish, but also continue working on the family farms at the same time. Of course, this could be the few riders in the book and not a general situation, but from the sounds of things, I quite like it! :) Maybe one day...

I grew up in Burlington, Ontario. Rode and or worked at Five Star, The Ranch, Hendervale, Bertin..now live in Bancroft, Ontario on small hobby farm with one tiny pony and a 13hh pony coming in July.

yup it is an interesting place! the children mostly start riding at pony club. there are many, many local pony clubs, no matter where you live. not so much western, but it is growing. and smaller breed shows than you would see in canada.  the fairs are called a&p's (agricultural and pastoral shows) and they have most breed classes there, in hand and ridden, driving at some, donkeys at some, show hack, park hack, riding horse, saddle hunter and round the ring jumping.
