Holsteiners in Dressage
Permalink Closed

Holsteiners are particularly known for their jumping ability, but lately there have been some showing at the highest levels in dressage.  One of them is Helenhof's Carabas (by Carnaby out of a mare by Roberto) who won the Medien Cup for younger dressage horses in Germany.

Does anyone else follow Holsteiner breeding and know of any outstanding dressage Holsteiners?  (and yes, I have a Holsteiner gelding who will be doing dressage biggrin.gif)

I don't 'follow' it, per se, but I have two Cor de le Breyre great grand daughters. One is my dressage horse, one was a grand prix jumping prospect (foundered badly now). The one who was a jumper prospect, her full sister is doing dressage as well.

There's an interesting article on Holsteiner breeding and TB influence on EuroDressage.com. It's interesting that they say the dressage index goes up on P1 TB half bloods, but the jumping index goes down, doesn't go up until P3. Also interestingly, my active dressage mare is out of a 3/4 TB x 1/4 CB mare, while the jumper is P2.

Although, neither of them have cute heads...

That's so cool!  Who is his Holsteiner sire?

My gelding has Cor de la Bryere on both sides of his pedigree:

Alej has a rather dishy face which I think he got from his dam's side - she was half Anglo-Arab.  Here's a picture on my Barnmice page:

If you have a Cord with a decent head, it came from the Dam...

My picture is my little guy who is by Popeye out of one of my mares, he has a gorgeous head, better than he has a right to!
