This is all but confirmed!

To quote a post here:

"Totilas'new rider is Matthias Rath. His stepmom bought the rights(!!!) to ride Totilas."

What does everyone know about Rath? I guess all eyes will be on him now!!

This was an interesting point that they cleared up at the press conference - Rath's father and coach, Klaus Martin Rath, and his stepmother Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff are actually part owners with Paul Schockemohler, they did not just buy 'competition rights' as was widely rumored.

Really Katy? That's very interesting news. Hopefully it will silence people who have been negative about how he got the ride!
Good for him and his family for going for this amazing opportunity!!

I enjoyed the video and think that young man deserves a round of applause - he looked nervous at the conference - think of the pressure he is under and how he must feel with all eyes on him and half the dressage world mad that gal doesn't have the ride anymore.

We have to remember that Edward Gal has a job - his job is to train the horse - so that the owners can sell him - so that someone else will ride the horse. In this case, as demonstrated by Rath, he did a very good job - maybe too good - but that's another question.

I think it is fabulous that the horse will continue to show, perhaps teach this young rider some amazing things and that all the speculation around the horse is now gone. Let the competitions begin - and there will be lots to say about that - but it is part of the business - I think change is a good thing for everyone - and this shakes things up - which is good.

Well said, Prospect! So much negativity about this and that! Let's allow this young man to grow with his new partner without criticizing!

I think Totilas deserves to be retired, if he keeps going at this level any longer his body might start shutting down. Horse's bodies aren't made to be worked this hard & strenuously. Plus he deserves to be turned out for once in his life. That's just my opinion though :)
