Equine Canada and The Canadian Horse Alliance
Permalink Closed

The provincial equestrian organizations of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Quebec, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador are proud to announce the incorporation of a new national alliance of equine organizations under the provisions of the Canada Corporations Act. The name of the new organization is pending approval of Industry Canada and a further announcement is forthcoming.

Just received a bulletin from EC in my email:

Maybe these two organizations will be able to work together - it seems rather contentious.

Equine Canada has already sent out an email to it's members regarding this alliance. Personally, I'm tired of them squabbling like children. However, I need AEF and EC memberships, so whatever. Here you have to have AEF membership as proof of insurance, basically anywhere you take your horse. Plus, you have to have an EC membership for EC rated shows, which would be about anything worthwhile. So, between a rock and a hard place.

I suspect that Industry Canada might quash it. Bunch of boys in a pissing contest.

I think all this back and forth is wasting money that could be spent on more productive things. From what I've read in Horse Sport magazine, I'd have to side with Equine Canada on this one. Seems to me they're being perfectly reasonable, and this battle has been going on for way too long. A unified organization would be better for the whole, so I wish they would put aside these personal grievences and work towards the good of the industry. With all the fees we pay, really, what's another $5 or $10 dollars

This seems to be a problem all over the Provinces, and quite frankly I don't think we are being fully informed.

Check out the facebook page :

Whatdoyouthinkabout Thecanadianhorsealliance

If we don't share this information with paying members, it seems that the Provinces certainly will not.

My Provincial organisation joined this alliance without my consent, consultation or knowledge. How does that represent the membership?

To top it off, most of the membership has no idea!

I agree with other posters who would rather see their membership dues spent on Provincial activities, not on political maneuvering.

sigh

From this news release that was sent out today, it looks promising that the six provinces will be back on board.

Yes, I heard the same thing. I hope the two groups can get things worked out and get on with the business of their organisations and membership representation!

I'm VERY sure that the fact that people are NOT attending the 'Wild Rose' shows here in AB has something to do with it. Oh yeah, and they had to cancel the Conference part of the AGM too. They can like it, they can not, but EC runs the show for those of us that show. And there's not all that much money coming in from those that don't. So, hopefully everyone can pull their heads out of their butts and get on with it.

I couldn't have said it better myself. It is time to get on with things already!

Everything going on with these organizations is BS. Unfortunatly, there can only be 1 national organization. If not then things will not get pulled together right and it will cost everyone more money in the long run. I hope that whatever they are hiding from us either comes out of they hide it and it has no impact on us, because I have read both accounts about things and they are both different.

Maybe they should learn that the national needs to put things down to the provincial, who then ask there members to vote there opinions on things, and then bring the majority answer as there actual answer on something.

Glad to hear some people are willing to step up and speak their minds! I am surprised how little information has been delivered, given the importance of the matter. Keep the word going, so members can have their say, and let their respective Provincial Organisations know what they want!
