Barn Mice & Cats, stories!
Permalink Closed

So we have a barn cat who loves to please. He caught a mouse yesterday and laid it on one of the turnout blankets that was covering the feed containers, so we would definatly see it. My instructor was like no way! I nearly died laughing.

Also, said cat also tried stealing the lunge whip while my instructor was lungeing, and actually managed it when my instructor droped it when she finished. He walked off, end of whip in his mouth, handle dragging behind, to the picnic table! He looked so proud of himself.

Does anyone else have stories like this?

That's a cute story Emiry! We haven't had any real barn cats in the time that I've had actual barns (to have cats in!), but we have had some rather interesting animals. We used to have a Pygora goat who ended up eating my lunge whip, and thought he was just as human as anyone else! Amongst others we also had a huge family of barn owls in the loft of my last barn, and under that same barn, rats that size of small dogs. Eek!

We have one kitten - well I guess he is a cat now that he is a year old - who is constantly bringing mice, birds, chipmunks and squirrels to share with Odin.

Here is a pic of Odin and Hobbes sharing a mouse
