Alright, not so much monument as taxidermied statue?!

Click here for the long process in pictures

Apparently other museums also have his skeleton, as well as his heart (which I understand to be or to have been displayed next to another horse's smaller heart, probably for comparison?)

What do you think about this? Cool? Disrespectful?

I haven't really decided if I'm more creeped out by it or awed by it. Either way, very interesting.

Well, not sure how I feel about it, either, but at least he wasn't breakfast in some other country....??

His is incredibly life-like, but I personally couldn't do it to one of my animals. I think it would be too difficult to look at what was left and not see the life in them anymore. My father is a firm believer in "closure," too, and I'm not sure you get it when you keep a substitution of this nature around.

Can't say I am a huge fan of stuffed horses, I can certainly see keeping his heart (he carried that much sought after large heart gene in the racing industry), but I am a huge fan of this great Australian racehorse who had a very sad ending.
