you know it is inevitable when you train a young horse

well - it was inevitable - I always say you have to fall off your horse once - it's been a long time since I fell off - today was the day - thankfully wore my vest and helmet - we were just doing a stretchie circle and boom - he jumped sideways and I hit the dirt - flat on my back - going to be sore tomorrow.

just when you relax on a young horse - that's when it happens - and he was being so good.

So my first fall off him is out of the way.

I often fell off my horse when he decided to have fun with me when I was working on relaxing my seat.  Now I see he was training me for when I started the young ones under saddle!
He would then stop, turn his head around to look at me and ask "what ARE you doing down there?" while snickering to himself.
Thanks to his training me I only fell off a horse I trained to saddle once, when I was clambering up on her bareback in the pasture.
Thank you Hat Tricks, because of all the times you disappeared from under me I learned that on a horse I have to RIDE each and every second.

I worked for a trainer for a while a few years ago who thought since I was younger, I'd bounce back pretty well if I was used as the crash test dummy on all the greenies. Needless to say I've had my fair share of dirt pies for breakfast and lunch.

Glad you got your tumble outta the way; here's to more successful rides in the future ;)

Been there, done that, still got the reminders, remember well how it feels : )

Glad it was not TOO bad for you, Prospect, hope today is better comfort-wise!

So happy you were not hurt, (sore..yep) we all have been in the dirt a few times. I feel that the side spooks and the bucks help me learn to sit deep and stay relaxed with Clyde's movement. As well as he often lets me know when he is going to "PLAY" with me.

My mare invites me to join, but we be goin'. I am greatful that I am even considered, never mind consulted with : ) With her, and mainly due to her arthritic hocks, 27 years and permanent ownership, it is allowed as I know her limits, she knows mine. We honour them and all is good.

I think the only time rowdy rides bother me is when the scope is unknown. I also am not very brave or tolerant of relatiative beasties.
