Since I don't have a horse at this, I need to rely on my fellow Barnmousers to relay the message of spring being here. I only half believe the groundhogs, and I've seen some trees budding in our area.. but I need to know if anybody has felt the true sign of spring yet? That feeling of horse hair all over the place, making your nose itchy or sometimes, if the wind is blowing just right, and you open your mouth -- you can even taste it!!
Is anybody covered in more horse hair than their horse is yet?

Saw a flock of robins in my backyard yesterday, bluebirds came thru about a week ago, have also seen the fox and coyote (not together) cruise thru my field more than a few times in the past couple weeks when I normally see them once or twice per season..... Horses started shedding early January so that hardly counts as a spring sign for me anymore : )

I've been noticing spring time for sure! Here in Oregon, it rains 10 months of the year, so "April showers" are a year-round thing. I have been noticing blue skies and chirping birds more and more. I seem to notice a rainbow outside my window (sometimes double or triple rainbows!) every day. Springtime in the Pacific Northwest is like no other place on Earth. Truly a beautiful time and a wonderful sight to behold. Unfortunately I am horseless as well, but driving around the countryside, I see the horses out having a good roll and looking kind of scraggly. :) I think spring is almost here!

The horse's coats are coming out in clumps. Mia's hooves are growing a little faster. Some birds are nesting somewhere above my window. The trees are all in bloom, the tree pollen is saturating the atmosphere, people are out looking to buy plants, and the fields are emerald green. Doesn't mean winter can't come back though. It often does.
True Jackie! We usually have one last good blast of winter sometime this month, we've still got snow on the ground in my area but it is supposed to change to rain sometime today and stay mild for the remainder of the week. I can see patches of the green stuff out my window.
Justice -- I haven't seen any Robins yet, but I have heard them!

We are finally getting some warmer weather this week. My horses have not started their spring shed yet. My poor appaloosa mare came from down in Mississppi last May. She did not grow much winter hair. She found it cold. I did not blanket her because I want her to grow a good winter coat so next winter she should be prepared. We had more snow Saturday night. I am ready for spring and so are my horses. The only one here wanting to keep winter is our Great Pyrenees dog.
We went from three feet of standing snow to foot/half of mud in less than a week (heavy rain). Four out of six stalls flooded, can't get my hay guy far enough into the yard so hay has to be shuttled, the horses will tear up the smallest open space on the slightest of whims, the potholes on the roads are treacherous to say the least. Hooves that were not due for a trim yesterday are 6 months overdue today.
Yeah, it's spring : )

March break, robins, skunks, shedding, mud, sunshine, a foal due any day as my broodie is getting bigger and just standing in the sun - these are my signs of spring.

It looks like this week is shaping up to be our first warm week of spring in my area, we are currently sitting at 0C, but are supposed to spike up to 8C and a bit warmer later this week
Prospect, I trust that you'll be posting new baby photos once it reaches the ground safely?
