What are your thoughts on this exciting advancement in the racehorse industry? Do you think these two are a match made in heaven? How do they compare to the Zenyatta/Bernardini match?
I am stoked to see what this baby will turn out like. It's a bit hit and miss as always, but I think these two are bound to make an awesome pair!

I think the Zenyatta camp was wise and equally bold to consider skipping a generation. It is not unusual or uncommon for genetic traits, albeit good as well as bad, to re-appear in grandget. I am not breeding savvy really and am more curious than educated about it. I simply wish all pregnant mares an uneventful foaling and a sound, wanted foal : )

Hopefully they wont go wrong by mixing all of that Northern Dancer/Raise a Native/Native Dancer blood together I'm interested in seeing the offspring's body type, although both horses are heavy on the Native Dancer blood, I believe that Medaglia Doro passed on his strong (and very nice) looks to Rachel Alexandra that is a distinct look from the Native Dancer look (more so his sons passing on the look I think).
When I first started riding, the facility where I rode had a breeding operation and their best broodmare was an own daughter of Northern Dancer, when their Quarter Horse stallion was crossed onto her the babies were always very athletic and were real lookers.
Of course looks mean nothing if you can stay sound on the track and run fast, so all three attributes would make for grand offspring.

Justice: Well said :) I'm not incredibly breeding savvy either, but I think the choices these guys made will pay off.
Nikki: You make a good point about mixing all of the blood, as well as athletic ability. I guess we'll see in 2012 what these pairs will produce! I'm definitely excited.
