Who is showing this season? What are you showing in? I wish I could be showing this season, I usually get that "I need to get ready for show season" feeling back in Feb, and it progresses as it nears the warmer weather. Fill me in!

Not showing here, but gearing up to hopefully head out to some shows as a spectator soon! I'm interested in checking in on the NFQHA shows, as from what I hear (gossip gossip!) they are beginning to allow more silver on their tack, which is against the rules, and the purpose of their shows. I am a fan of the foundation shows because they emphasize the horse's ability, not how much money the owner/rider has to slap shiney objects onto their tack. So, we'll see ;) I missed the Northwest Horse Expo this year unfortunately :( They usually have some great clinicians and stallion showcases. Next year! :)

No showing for me - it's never really been my cup of tea.

I used to show and show and show.
I haven't shown in the last 4 years -- I use my show funds for my lessons with my coach - whom I adore - he's done it all - coaches internationally but he's so down to earth and wonderful.

Sometimes I miss showing - but not often - I love my lessons -- we're training pirouette and passage and half-pass and all that fun stuff right now with my horse - and both horsie and I are having so much fun.

I have one student who is champing at the bit about showing - so she'll do a few schooling shows this year...one is coming up in a few days. I'm announcing at it, my friend is whipping in...and another is one of the organizers...will be fun..!!!

To all who are showing -- Best wishes for the show season.

Best of luck Barb! We can't wait to hear how your new boy is working out for you! :)

@gg: Smart plan, I think. Sometimes people get pretty burnt out from showing all the time. I can see it being lovely to have a break once in a while (or for 4 years, haha!). Glad you love your coach, too. That's a very important thing to have; if you hate your coach, you're going to loathe riding. :)

@Kathleen: Never really been my cup of tea, either. Though one day (sometime soon!) I'd like to take up stock horse shows (mainly working cow classes and the like). Just never could get into the prim and proper WP that the 4-Hers did around here when I had horses. :)

I will be showing again this year, teamed up with "Tina" an 18 year old AQHA mare that can still put me in the ribbons at most shows. I do have another young one (7 YO SBP Mare, "Flare") that is a strong up and coming competitor and she will be shown as well. We compete in WP, Trail, HMS, Halter with both mares and I have another gal show them English Equitation, Road Hack and HUS. We usually make about 6 shows inour summer season and find that to fill our "ring requirements". Good Luck and Have Fun to all other competitors!

WE ARE SHOWING NEXT WEEKEND.

My son and I are both showing and one of our other horses is also showing.  It is a combinded Trial - dressage and stadium jumping.

I am taking my 4 yr old and we are doing the dressage only and my son and his mare are doing both.  It will be their first stadium course at a show.

One of our other horses is going with a young girl and one of our former horses is also going.  So there will be four PROSPECT horses showing.

It is outdoors so I hope the weather is good.

Just for fun, you should all hazard a guess at who's the elder mare in my post. LOL
Who's 18 and who's 7?? Wanna guess?

p.s.  For the record, I'm Waaaaaaay older than that, so it isn't me! lol

We have one combined driving show in Bromont, Quebec in June and many, many line shows where I will be taking out our new 2 year old to get used to the sights and sounds! I will also be doing some welsh shows with my mother in laws cob and of course the Royal Winter Fair at the end of the year. We are also getting married somewhere inbetween the shows :) Should be a fun year!!

Good luck to everyone showing this year!

Wishing best of luck to everybody!! And grand rides for those that do not show, I love a good hack : ) I am not competing directly but several of my students are and I can be regularly found in various administrative positions at competitions so I get my fix : )

Congratulations! :) Best of luck with your horses, particularly the combined driving. One day I'd like to give it a go; it looks really fun!

@Justice - I've never competed, but watching from the sidelines can be just as stressful as being in the ring, I would think. Especially if you've got students showing! :) Good luck to them as well!

I will be showing this summer(as shows don't start till late June)!

But as of right now, I am having trouble finding non-crap (excuse language) boots in extra-wide under $200CDN. It looks like I will have to up my limit and buy more expensive boots locally since shipping prices are insane. So I might end up showing in one of the first shows in my winter dress boots instead of field boots (Uh Oh)

Don't know the classes yet. I have to let my barns show coordinator what classes I will be in for one of the bigger shows, so me and my instructor are going to talk it over and figure it out. I'll post once I know.

We started showing this past weekend.  Saturday morning the temperature was -1 and we had snow, but the rings were clear and we had super rides.  My FEI Junior rode both her technical tests and scored a 69 and a 72 for her Team and Individual tests respectively.  Yesterday was a little warmer, +2 and no snow, and she aced her Freestyle.

We're off to her first Q competition on Friday, but this morning we woke up to 6" of fresh snow, and it's snowing furiously as I write this!  At least this next competition is only about 1.5 hours from home, and we don't have cross mountain passes, but the next one is 3 weeks away and involves a 6 hour haul through two passes, so I'm already dreading the drive!

I myself am not competing until nearly the end of May because I have so many clients to coach at the first few competitions, and because I ride in the FEI division along with my Junior.  The scheduling conflicts can be horrendous, and as she's trying for a place at the North American Championships this summer I just don't want to risk it.  At least we've started the season off with a big bang!

I have a pair of field boots with extra wide calf - I had them extended - in the calf - they are a size 11 but they fit tight.  where are you located - we are in ontario.  I am asking 150.00 they are in great shape - I only show dressage now so I don't need them.

db, glad to hear your show season has started off well! Keep us posted on your progress! :)

Emiry, I hope you find boots in your price range soon :) Perhaps Prospect's boots will do the job?

Good luck to all!

Sorry prospect. They will be to big in the feet for me. My feet are 9.5 on the dot, 10's are even to big for me...but thanks for the offer, my heart actually skipped a beat when I first saw your offer.

Hopefully will be doing some Eventing this summer, I had my first eventing clinic with my mare last weekend and I am officially hooked!

Last summer we went to one Dressage schooling show, showing has gotten more expensive since I was a kid!

DBG, I've never even ridden a horse "english" and I'm 100% hooked on eventing! It just looks so fun, eh?! :) Definitely will be something I will pursue at some point in life, as well. :) Best of luck!
