Unfortunately yes, a few times. We rented/leased a farm as well (two actually) that we had to back out of. Finances were the devil and we couldn't play that ballgame. Unfortunately didn't have the resources to board out; I've been horseless 5 years because of it. :( It's no fun at all.

I feel for both of you, details not required, none of my business. The financial state of the world is weak, fragile at best even for the wealthy, they just can't feel it yet, or, maybe they can and this has generated a whole new trend for greed, i don't know. People have always had a mean streak, being the fearful, insecure things that we are and the current trends in living quality have been sorely tested and abused more so lately for so many. Finances are not always to blame, either. There is a plethora of circumstances that can make a person's life a living HELL. BTDT, got the whole wardrobe.
Seems so shallow to say "hang in there" so, hang in HERE : ) I, for one, will listen and empathize with anybody struggling to just find a little piece of Peace. Details not necessary, just knowing someone is low triggers my heart, even tho I am well aware that t listening alone does not feed the family.
Hugs, prayers and hope to both of you!

Thanks Justice! It does mean a lot that you are so thoughtful in that respect.
GG, I stand behind what Justice has said. We are both here for you, though listening does not feed the family or allow you to have ponies at home. Sometimes having someone to rant to who listens intently is comforting enough. :) I think of Barnmice like a family.

same here but in the other boat with the oil activity, the prices place want is crazy, we have been looking for two years, in sucks, in waiting the day will come.
Granted, good things come to he who waits and I don't mind earning it the old-fashioned way but is it so much to ask that it be just a TAD easier, just once in a while?
Rant on, Guys : )

Hey, Goatgirl, it could happen to any of us at any time. None of us are really immune.
There are a million reasons, many of which are unforeseeable. My husband's job was made redundant (along with the entire staff) on Thursday, so we're in waiting mode now to see what happens and sort out what we ought to do about it. This is just the nature of the times in which we live.
You live where the property values are hugely inflated, and where all kinds of things can happen to inflate the cost of living and doing business.
That said, I agree with Justice - it sure would be nice if sometimes things got easier, instead of harder...! At least you can board your horse(s) out, and not lose them altogether, and you do live where there are lots of different types of boarding possibilities. When you sleep in on a weekend for the first time, because someone else is attending to the chores, or you sit down with a cup of tea because someone else is stacking hay, it'll feel a little better.
I wish you didn't have to go through this. If it helps at all remember that we are here to support you, and we do understand how hard it is.
My sympathy to you all. I can't afford to own a horse now, the costs have just gone up too much. I would be lucky to be able to feed one horse with the amount of money I spent feeding seven horses 25 years ago. I own some land, but it is mostly woods, not pasture. There is just no way I can support a horse now that I am on disability.
I hope all your problems get solved quickly, all of you. May you find a decent affordable stable, goatgirl. May everything work out for you dbliron.
Life is hard right now, and I do not think the recession is over no matter what economists say.
Thank you so very much everyone. I so much appreciate your kind words and thoughts. And thank you all for sharing.
And best wishes to all of you in these hard economic times.
Dbliron - I'm keeping fingers and toes crossed for you - so that all works out well. And yes property prices and land taxes in my area are rediculous - Five measley acres in the Fraser Valley sell for almost one million dollars...and property taxes are crazy ...When my dad died my mum sold the 200 acre farm in Chase (B.C. interior) for $250,000
Jackie - no I don't think the recession is over at all - the politicians can have their spin doctors work it eight ways to Sunday but it is what it is - everywhere - it seems people are struggling -
I'm extremely sad about leaving our farm - but I know there are people far worse off - I don't have to look far - there's homeless everywhere.....
Thank you sooooh much again and best wishes everyone
Yup it is a sad day when one moves off the farm, my parents sold our farm just before, as in three days before the whole bse and border closing, they lucked out just the other day dad was commenting that he could have gotten way more now with the cost of living and prices sky rocketing thay would not have gotten the house in a lake commuinty that they have now, it is sad that there is not more incentives and better lower offered loans with lower interest offered for the acerage, microfarmers, and farmers and ranchers available, i love it someone young goes into the oil field, and say i am making so on and so forth there is not many with money in the bank as, a new truck, house and playtoys, take a great percentage away from the paycheck i know many people around here with beefed up quads with the price tag of 35 thousand it is crazy and in one the sniff the whole oil industry can go kaboom, we me and my other half try not to go out of are price range with anything, if the payments can't be made on ei, than we do not buy it, we are not on ei but if the oil field, crashes there is nothing here.
