I just wanted to share this chilling account from Anna Moss of her abusive husband and the toll it took on her and her horses. Very sad. Get some tissues if you're about to read this.
Warning--extremely charming men, often very attentive at first, often are "wife beaters". It has never happened to me, but I have always looked for rough edges in a man. If he is too slick and REALLY CHARMING watch out!!!!!
That poor colt. That poor woman. The thing is that it is often very dangerous to break off with an abuser once he has moved into your life. Sometimes the only solution is to basically disappear totally and leave no forwarding address, very hard to do if you have horses.
I couldn't bear to read the story, but I can tell you that anyone who abuses someone weaker than they are, or a helpless animal needs to be locked up for YEARS.
Abuse can happen to anyone, regardless of social status, education or even self-confidence. Abusers know how to slowly manipulate you into a position of helplessness.
I can think of a lot of things I'd like to do to that man.
So true Barb! The woman who was brave enough to write down her story and share it, is a very independent/strong/smart woman, she just got caught up with the wrong person -- which is very hard to get away from!
