Boyd Martin Rallies After Barn Fire
Permalink Closed

Hey everybody, I was just reading this article about Boyd Martin, it is truly touching and inspiring. I can't even imagine losing one horse let alone almost a barn full to a fire and ever coming back from that. Grab some tissues if you want to read the article here: Boyd Martin rallies after fire nearly burns Olympic dreams

The article got me thinking about my horsey related biggest fears, and I have to admit that a barn fire is right up there on my list of fears. When I was younger and spending the night at a friend's farm some teenage boys set their barn on fire as a prank. Luckily the barn was made of cement blocks, no more hay than what was needed for the week was stored in the barn and because of the time of year only a few of the show horses were in the facility (80 stall barn, with only 14 horses inside). It was plain luck, and I am thankful everyday that not only my friend and her family were so fortunate that the barn only had smoke damage and burnt hay, but we were able to get the horses out of the barn quickly and each one was alright after being checked out by the vet.

Some of my other fears are just silly, although not directly horse related, this one is farm related.. I'm scared of white chickens and being trapped somewhere with them! biggrin

What are some of your horse related fears?
