Hello, my name is Glenn Thompson and I have written an ebook " The Tradition of Cheating at the Sport of Kings" The topics include that 85% of trainers are giving illegal drugs to their horses on race day. Looking to see if people think my number is high or true. I train out of Monmouth Park in NJ and have been doing it for over thirty years.
Good Morning Barbara, They have all kinds of drug testing and the racing commisions claim that over 99% of the test are clean yet every day in racing thousands of horses are given other shots with their lasix that they should not be given. Some of the shots are for bleeding, these include drugs like: Magneseium Sulfate, Kentucky Red, Clotol, others are cortico steroids like Azium and others are to try and get the horse to relax like B1 or ACTH. The problem with the drug testing is that if the drugs are not on the list to test for, and the trainers and vets know which ones are and are not, then they never have any positive drug test. There is a 24 hour rule at most tracks, that no shots are allowed other than lasix on race day. But this rule is ignored by most vets and trainers. I have been having a hard time getting my book out there as the racing press seems to want to sweep it under the rug and does not want any bad press for racing. I have contacted many publications only to be turned away due to the content of the book. We are however starting to get some good reviews from some of the top people in the industry so I am hoping that gets the ball rolling. Have a Great Day!
Hello Jackie, Thanks for your interest and the drugs dont help with the breakdowns . If a horse has a problem and gets a shot for pain, they could run thru the pain and get hurt.
Mr. Thompson, Having been in racing in Southern Cal. I can tell you that you are going to be ignored. However, there may be a way to get publicity. You see in most states there are animal abuse laws.....including horses. Well, drugs are abuse to horses when used to mask a problem or enhance performance. I have started a campaign against AQHA for the criminal act of santioned abuse of competition horses. I would like to know the substance of your book and your references.....the reason, to campaign against NTRA, the Jockey Club, etc. for their civil and criminal violations of their 'fiduciary' duties. New York would be a great place to start since they are having carriage horse issues.
If you go to the website sportofkingsbook.com and go to buy the book , put in code ty77q and it will save you some money. All on the site are welcome to use that code. I do not have solid evidence that would hold up in court. I have knowledge gathered by thirty years experience and having freinds and family as vets and trainers and them speaking very freely to me about the cheating that is going on day in and day out. I hope you get a chance to read the book and let me know if it would help in NY
