Hello from the Great White North!! (Northern Ontario)

WOW! As I browsed through the other posts I noticed ALOT of people from Ontario!!

I saw the ad for Barnmice on the OEF website and thought to check it out, I am not disappointed and am loving every moment of this! Lots of wonderful things to check out.

A little about me: I am a plus rider who doesn't beleive in sterotypes. I try my best to educate riders, both plus and non-plus about the joys of being in the saddle, and how much fun it is. I do not have my own horse, but I have owned them in the past. I currently ride at a local barn that has accepted my plus size with absolutely no issues. I am an active member of my SAR team, not only am I on the board of directors, I am also an important part of the search team. If I am needed in the field I will go, however, I do most of the communications within the command post working directly with our local police force, and making sure all the information is put in correctly. I also work full time for an airline that services Northern Ontario, mostly the James Bay coast. So I keep extremely busy!

Anyone is free to friend me on the barn mice page and I"m looking forward to meeting new and wonderful people!

Good Day Barbara! Yup, I am an active member of Timmins Porcupine Search & Rescue, we are 100% volunteer based and we cover from Latchford straight up to Kapuskasing and everywhere in between. We are a group made up of OSARVA certified volunteers which allow us to work with local police and the OPP.

I can't wait to be a boarder, right now I take lessons and am the happiest lady I have been. There are some wonderful barns around here, and I'm lucky to have found a barn that accepts me for who I am!

Today is definatly a beautiful day, we're sitting around the +13 mark. I hear that Kashechewan still has about 3ft of snow haha, so I guess not all of Ontario is snow free yet, but from what the pilots are saying, it's sky clear up the coast and down around here, so it's probably a beautiful day through-out Ontario. This weather sure beats the -40 of the winter!

Hopefully this sun will dry up the outdoor arena's quickly!!  Summer is way to short!

hi Jenny!  I used to live in Southern Ontario- grew up in Belleville.  But now I live in New Zealand, and dream of one day going home.  I have 2 lovely NZ Hanoverians that I bred.  I need to sell one, as my health has suddenly gone kaput, and its too hard to ride, work and travel to work.... Nice to meet you.

Welcome Jennby!
What is SAR? Search and Rescue? Wow, what an exciting and rewarding job!
So glad you are in a great barn. I am also in a barn filled with wonderful people. Your fellow boarders can make or break your experience!
I hope you are enjoying the same gorgeous weather as we are in Toronto!! :)

LOL! Not Sudbury! I'm in South Porcupine, just outside of Timmins (I ride in Timmins). So 3 hrs North of Sudbury.  I'm not as north as some of my friend (Kap, Smooth Rock, Moosonee, Kashechewan, Attawapiskat), but still north :)

OMG! What kind of pony? Right now my lesson horse is a 16hh QH mare. Total Sweety!

jawdrop.gif  Yeah, so you are from the North, can't believe all the people who think Ontario ends at Sudbury LOL.  My pony is a 14.2 palomino Morgan Horse, she is my baby. I also ride a 15.2 Quarter Horse and a 16.0 Paint.  Love them all but after my major horseback riding injury its so much easier getting onto a smaller horse,  less of a drop too.  Been out riding alot the last little while, also getting a huge amount of chores done on the farm.  Just bought myself a loader/backhoe so pretty pumped to get some ditching done and manure moved.  Surprising the mess three horses can make. I hope you have a good spring riding and we'll chat,  got your friend request confirmation, awesome  Talk to you soon

hey Jenn:

Ya I've been dealing with a horse injury so no time for the luxury of posting here, Hope all is well in South Porcupine, we've had so much rain here its redunkulous, I'm up to my ears in mud. the ground is so soaked theres nowhere for the water to go anymore. Have a great summer and get your butt out riding. I'm going for a trail ride this weekend with a few buddies. It's supposed to be beautiful so a few hours in the saddle will do a girl good, plus a couple of cold beers won't exactly hurt either. Talk to you later.

Sarah
