I just read that the" trainer" was banned, and is now a pariah in the horse world, but I do think he should have served jail time.

My impression is, the Big Lick world is so corrupt, this guy will find a way to keep his hand in the game. Maybe it's a start, but these bastards have been abusing horses this way since at least the '70's. Not likely to turn lily-white overnight.

Early films from the '30's and '40's show happy free-moving horses that look like a pleasure to ride. Would LOVE to find such a horse for the SO.

The whole situation makes me sick. I watched the video, it made me want to puke and punch someone all at once.

This guy has been in trouble more then once. and he was still doing it!! just under a different name.
So he was banned from the top TWH show, big deal, like he cares, he knows that no matter what he's still going to get the idiots woh think treating a horse like this is ok and he's still going to make money.
He got hit with 52 charges and did no jail time, what is that saying to other horse abusers?
Anyone who knows anything about horses, even people who don't, know a horse would NEVER walk like that naturally. No matter what the breed it.

I was astounded at how those horses were beaten - let alone how sore their feet and forlegs were made. Those horses have amazing heart to put up with that kind and amount of mistreatment. I agree, that big lick movement is just wierd. Tennessee Walkers were supposed to be able to be ridden on the plantation all day long - none of those horses struck me as being able to go all day. They waste so much energy in those exaggerated and unnatural gaits I think just one hour would kill them.
