As a handicapped rider my New Year horsie resolution is to ride as much as I can, and to treat the horses I ride with great respect, sensitivity, honor and compassion.

Gee, no one else?

Okay.

I resolve to find a way to convince Bobby (British Riding Pony) that being ridden can be fun and enjoyable.

I resolve to find a way to get Merlin (1/2 draft/ISH balker) to realize that moving forward can be deeply satisfying and enjoyable.

I resolve to find a way to release Mick's (Arab gelding) physical memories of past pain and physical harm so he can move with the fluidity that got buried a long time ago.

I resolve to find a saddle that is WIDE enough so Cider (Arab/Welsh mare) can carry a person comfortably and try to convince her again that she can deeply enjoy being ridden.

And for Mia (30+yr. old bay arthritic Arab mare in my photo) I resolve to try to keep on figuring out how I can make her more physically comfortable with being riden.

And you can follow my successes and failures of these resolutions by reading my blogs here on Barnmice, posted most Sundays.

I'm just trying to enjoy riding Dee and quit crying over Maggie. I also want to lose 50 lbs so that I can ride Havoc when he's ready for me. That's awhile yet, but there's no time like the present.

This is a tough question to answer!

I have a looming stack of horse related books that I'd like to get through this year, I know it doesn't seem like a major goal but I avoid "me time" which is why the books have been neglected. I guess this is one resolution with two goals built into it aww

I want that mule, Nikki!

My resolution is to keep at my core strengthening exercises so I can be balanced in the saddle and give CLEAR, PRECISE aids to my horse. I spent too many years being a ragdoll in the saddle!

I think I resolve for the new year to train Flynn up to a point that by the end of the year he will have least been in one show, and to also not give him as many candy corns just to laugh at his way he eats them...

Isn't the mule gorgeous? I took that photo a few years ago at a plowing match, he was a part of a team of three -- they were amazing!

Is that Flynn in your photo, Starbuxchic? I love that blaze! I hope you'll share photos with us from your show :)
