DEBBIE MCDONALD & JANET FOY SYMPOSIUM NOVA SCOTIA MAY 4-5, 2013
Permalink Closed

NOVA SCOTIA DRESSAGE is pleased to announce that the popular "DRESSAGE THROUGH THE LEVELS" will be coming to TRURO, NOVA SCOTIA. This will be THE FIRST TIME that Debbie and Janet are together in Canada!

Nova Scotia Dressage has been bringing in top level clinicians to Atlantic Canada since 2010 where we were thrilled to havethe incredible STEFFEN PETERS! November 2011 saw, for her only appearance in all of North America that year, the wonderful INGRID KLIMKE! Auditors from across Canada attended this "once in a lifetime opportunity" to see Ingrid teach! And we were lucky to have been informed by Ingrid herself, before the World knew, that she became the 2nd woman, and under the age of 50, to receive the honorable title of REITMEISTER!! NSD booked Debbie and Janet back in the Fall of 2011 for 2014, so FOUR MONTHS TO GO until this exciting event. Any dressage enthusiast who would like to see their scores improve should try to attend this clinic! And it's right before show season. These clinics are geared towards the adult amateur and we welcome all breeds, and all levels of riders to apply!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The early auditor and rider application downloads are available on www.novascotiadressage.com

Early auditor registration is by March 15: $120 for the weekend, $65/day

After March 15: $140 weekend; $75/day

Walk ins welcome: $80

For the riders, the groups are as follows: TWO Training, TWO First, Second, Third, Fourth, FEI. Janet will also be discussing conformation for the dressage horse, and a good ride vs a bad ride.

Rider fee: $450 for two semiprivate lessons ($225/lesson)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Debbie McDonald had the best finish ever turned in by a U.S. rider and became the first American rider to hold the title of Dressage World Cup Champion. At the 1999 Pan American Games, McDonald and BRENTINA won the individual and team Gold Medals, and gave the USET its first double Gold Medalist since 1983. At the 2004 Athens Olympics, the pair won the team bronze and were individually fourth overall, and McDonald was dubbed "First Lady of American Dressage." Debbie now coaches 2012 US Olympic Rider Adrienne Lyle and her horse Wizard.

Janet Foy is an FEI "I" judge, and a USEF "S" Dressage Judge. She has judged at many of the major shows in the United States, in Guatemala, England, Canada, Poland, Australia and Mexico as well as the FEI World Cup League Finals for Canada and Australia. As a rider, Janet has won her USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold Medals. She is also on the USDF "L" Education Program Faculty and instructs Federation judges training programs throughout the United States. She is well known for the very popular Dressage Through the Levels program which she has presented around the US with Steffen Peters and Debbie McDonald. This will be the first time that the DTTL has been to Canada!

Do not miss this "once in a lifetime opportunity" for it wont be back here again!

We have a few Maritimers presently attending the World Masters in Florida this week. I just received a rather enthusiastic email from one telling me that she met, and chatted with, Debbie McDonald at a function. She said that Debbie was very excited about coming to Nova Scotia to do this clinic! Well we are very excited to have her, and Janet!

Janet Foy will also be doing a book signing of her best seller, "Dressage for the Not so Perfect Horse".  We do hope that this event will make it into a future issue of Dressage Today, as it is the first time that Debbie and Janet will have presented the Dressage Through the Levels in Canada!

NSD clinics are directed towards the Adult Amateur. Many high end clinics tend to put in higher level horse/rider combinations. We like to have a mix of all breeds, shapes, sizes of horses, ie the not so perfect horse! We also follow the USEF Guide to the selection of riders for clinics.

Plans are already in the works for the next big event(s) in 2014!

The first post has a date error! Should read "2013" not 2014!!! Can't seem to edit that mistake!

Question to ask both of them...cant wait to hear the answer:

The old rule of rein back (which is much longer than just this) now says (in effect). Rein back is a two beat diagonalized movement. But now the horse is allowed to be 4 beat and as long as it is not resistant it should be given a five or better.

IF a horse is 4 beat it IS resistant (or neurologic), and there is NO other place in the entire rule book which demands a score (letter alone one which is sufficient or satisfactory) for a movement which is NOT pure in the footfalls. (And the second sentance is ONLY usEf rules....not an FEI rulebook change).

Propose that question to them...
