To Clip or Not to Clip
(Preview)
Ugh...I just don't know what I should do! I have had my horse for just over a year. Last fall he grew such a thick coat, he looked like a hairy pony! I mean REALLY hairy. BUT after I clipped him, he rubbed everywhere! He is so sensitive I had to wrap polos around the reins so they wouldn't rub him! He had blank...

Horse Choking on Something?
(Preview)
Yesterday while I was grooming my horse I gave him a piece of carrot, which I do all the time. He seemed to crunch on it happily and that was the end of that. Then a few minutes later he was coughing and moving his tongue around his mouth. I watched him and he didn't seem to be in distress, but he was definitel...

I have tried this out on my horse for a trial period and really like the product. I have not noticed a big difference in my horse's condition but he was in great condition already. Why is my Horse Becoming a Bit Girthy?
(Preview)
I've noticed the past three or four times that I've saddled my horse, when I do up the girth - not too tightly - he starts to walk on the spot as though something about the girth being done up is bothering him. I have preseed hard all over his back and looked underneath and don't see anything. He is fine when I...

Foundering

So I was just wondering what exactly makes a horse founder? Too much of something? While I was cleaning, I came to the conclusion that I have a lot of horse treats! I was just wondering, if you feed an excessive amount of treats can this cause the horse to founder?

EHV-1 Outbreak
(Preview)
Just wondering what other barns might be doing in the face of the outbreak. There are two confirmed cases here in AB in horses that were down at the Utah show, so you can imagine there's chaos. I'm taking extra precautions (spraying the truck tires, nerf bars and floor mats with Virkon), but both barns...

Cough Remedy Advice

Hey everyone! My 14 year old AQHA gelding is a roarer. He had the tie-back surgery 10 years ago before I owned him. Ever since then, at the beginning of each ride he will cough 2-3 times and then carry on. Over the last 8 years that I've had him, this cough has become progressively worse. Because of the tie...

She IS still a TB) I can't afford to feed more grain (She gets about...
