After hearing of Eric Lamaze's Victory in Paris , I've gotten curious about my fellow Barnmousers and their interests. That is to say, their interests in "big league" riders! So, Barnmousers, who are your favourite big time riders and why? I'll start by saying my favourites are split equ...

What are you asking Santa for this year that is horse related? A new muck fork? Trailer? A pony?

And if so, what do you give them? Do they get stockings too? What about stall decorations? I know someone who used to visit her grown daughter for Christmas and bring presents for the daughter, the daughter's dog and the daughter's two guinea pigs. I guess even the littlest of creatures were still memb...

What is everybody intending to read this winter by the fire? I'm a bit of a new comer to Dick Francis (started reading his books last year -- was very sad when he passed this year, maybe Felix will keep writing?), but I just picked up Shattered and Dead Heat to crack open sometime over the winter -- Edited b...

Okay, we have a cold front coming in, the temperature is going to drop about 20C, that's 36F. DO NOT try and ride a difficult mare when this is happening!!! Especially if you can't find your trainer's running martingale. There was much kookiness. I will say, the mare is seriously through when she'...

I am looking to get a nice dressage pad customized and embroidered for my horse but I want to know of a good, cheap place to order it from online? I recently ordered an embroidered one from Bahr's Saddlery but they don't have the kind of pad that I want now. Any suggestions? Thanks :)

Do you go hacking alone? We are beside a forest and I like to go on the trails, but sometimes there's no one to go out with and I'm hesitant to go out alone. Talk and complaining amongst ourselves gets us no where. The judges and USEF and FEI must be held accountable in any manner at our disposal. USEF forces anyone who wishes to file a protest to fork up $200.00.....that is a huge deterent in preventing the filing of protests against judges and/or rider...

Here's one I just stumbled upon... The idea of the stock tie was that it would act as a scarf and keep the rider warm and dry, as well as make a useful bandage or sling should the rider or horse get injured. I had no idea, but it makes perfet sense.

HI Everyone!! I know it is a little early to be asking but I really need some help on this one! My horse took forever to shed out this year, I had to clip most of his hair off in June! If you've been around horses long you've had a funny or an embarrassing moment. How do you deal with barn gossip? I tend to ignore it, but in some situations it can get way out of hand and leave people avoiding the barn rather then enjoying their time with their horse. Now that fall is here and winter knocking on the door, the hours of daylight have shortened significantly. At the barn where I board we have a lighted outdoor arena and forty acres of pasture. I know of other boarders that ride the pasture in the dark but I am not so sure that is a good idea. Any thoughts?

I've developed a real interest in the method of clicker training a horse. Has anyone tried it? Please share your experiences/expertise with me!!! We just had a get-together at the barn and I was getting a bad time for my horse being spoiled. Actually, she was noted as THE most spoiled horse in the barn!
