So, I'm baffled. I started my 6 year old gelding on Sinew-X about a month ago. It has greatly improved him joints (after an injury) and his movement. My issue is getting him to take it. He's not this bad when I give him wormer, but when I come into his stall every morning he runs to the back and tries to hid...

I just brought home my 10 year old Thoroughbred mare from a year and a half in the pasture to be a broodmare. She was unsuccessful in conceiving so we had to bring her home. I have been seeing a trend in the equine publications that I read of leaning towards a "less is more" approach to healthcare in horses. An example of this is worming. The current process is to worm on a schedule and to cycle the meds to prevent a resistance build up. When I moved to my new bar...

What are some common (or not so common) lameness issues you have come across during your time with horses? I'll start by saying currently a friend of mine has a Saddlebred mare that is having issues with her stifle - possibly OCD (osteochondritis dessicans) - but won't know until X-Rays are taken. Hav...

Ever since we clipped my horse, his coat is rough and his skin is really dry. I am thinking of putting oil or lotion of some sort into a spray bottle and spraying a mist along his skin. Hi All, Ever since we clipped my horse, the reins have been rubbing and marking his neck in one spot. My horse had a reaction to his rabies shot and his front legs filled the next day. It scared the daylights out of me! He is newly in from Europe and I don't think he has ever had a rabies shot. Im curious on what other people would do in this situation: You had a young horse (yearling or two year old) and he/she got injured. They were bought to be a dressage horse and your plan was to train the animal, show it for a year or two and then sell it. The injury was pretty severe and they have to go for sur...
