How do you prevent yourself from tensing up when you ride a test?

I find that whenever I have to put a series of movements together to ride a test, what was moments before a nice fluent ride, can become desperate and tense. I seem to have the urge to rush everything. Anyone else in the same boat? What tools do you use for keeping it relaxed?
